The success of Minneapolis students depends on strong community support from each and every one of us! We create opportunities for individuals and groups to make a difference for youth as volunteers, employers, donors and partners. We also convene our community on key education issues to help increase engagement and advocacy for strong public schools and a brighter future for our youth. Check out these great ways you can support Minneapolis students:

Volunteer with Students

Graduation Coaches: Our coaches provide provide personalized mentoring to help students graduate on time and plan for life after high school. Students benefit from a positive relationship with an adult outside of the family, gain confidence and build connections with their peers and school community. Learn more.

Career Event Volunteers: During the school year, volunteer share their career insights and advice with members of our future workforce! Present to students about what training is required for your career, what the highlights and challenges of your job are, and what students can do to further explore this career. Check our events calendar in September for opportunities.

STEP-UP Mock Interviews: Each spring, 400+ professionals gather at the Minneapolis Convention Center for four whirlwind evenings of mock interviews with STEP-UP student interns. Mock interviewers talk one-on-one with students and provide feedback and suggestions for improving their skills. Registration information will be available in February 2017.

STEP-UP Achieve Youth Employment Program: This nationally-recognized program - part of the City of Minneapolis STEP-UP program - partners each year with over 160 top Twin Cities companies to provide work readiness training, mentoring and 800 meaningful paid internships for Minneapolis youth. Attend a Public Education Event

Education Partners Luncheon: Our October 25 Education Partners Luncheon will feature keynote speaker, Reshma Saujani, renowned founder and CEO of Girls Who Code. Each fall, over 700 education, business and community members gather to celebrate and renew our community’s strong commitment to public education and success for all Minneapolis students. EDTalks: EDTalks is a lively series of events that engages young professionals with issues impacting public education and young people. Each program features two 20-minute presentations by cutting-edge speakers along with ample time for conversation and networking. Check out our past EDTalks videos and information on our Fall 2016 program when it's available. 

Achieve101: Come get an exclusive glimpse into our Career & College Centers, where you'll enjoy morning coffee, pastries and a great conversation about how you can be a partner in helping Minneapolis youth achieve their career and college goals. You'll meet some amazing students our outstanding CCC staff. Check our Events Calendar in August for information on upcoming programs.

Principal Partner Day: This annual event matches community leaders with Minneapolis Public Schools principals for a half-day shadowing experience. Participants gain a rare behind-the-scenes view by accompanying their principal on classroom visits and meetings, engaging with staff and students, and observing the challenges and triumphs they encounter each day.
