Long-time partner CenterPoint Energy Foundation has increased its support for AchieveMpls with a new $15,000 grant for our career and college readiness programs, including post-graduation planning for seniors, career and postsecondary exposure and exploration, financial aid resources and Step Up outreach and work readiness training.

“The CenterPoint Energy Foundation is proud to support AchieveMpls and its work with all students in Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS),” says Rachel Molzahn, CenterPoint Energy community relations program manager. “Achieve’s proven track record of providing direct guidance and resources to Minneapolis students – with a focus on equity – is something we wanted to support in a larger way,”

CenterPoint has been a strong supporter of Achieve and the Step Up Youth Employment Program for many years. In addition to financial support, company employees have served as Step Up supervisors and volunteers for Step Up mock interviews and career exploration events.

“As a company we know we need to support our future workforce, whether they pursue a career in the trades, customer service, business, or another sector,” Rachel says. “Achieve ensures that students have a wide range of knowledge about all types of careers – including the trades – which is critical to our future success as a business and as a community. Because Achieve serves every MPS student and is working hard to address opportunity gaps in our community, supporting this work is a way for us to invest in the future of our community on a broad scale and reach students throughout Minneapolis.”
