Lisa Dornacker

Before joining our team, Lisa held various career and college readiness positions serving metro area youth. As a TRIO Upward Bound counselor, she supported first-generation students in every step of their high school and college-going pursuits, and managed multiple projects focusing on financial aid, college exposure and parent engagement.

Lisa was recently a specialist in the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program through the Minneapolis Public Schools Office of College & Career Readiness. She fostered academic persistence and resilience in high school juniors and seniors and encouraged them to find employment or attend college after graduating. Lisa has also served on many state-wide initiatives to support underrepresented students in overcoming barriers to post-secondary success.

Lisa earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Human Services with a minor in Sociology from Valley City State University, and her M.S. in Professional School Counseling from Minnesota State University Mankato. She also holds a certificate in Parent Involvement & Engagement from the Minnesota College Access Network (MCAN).

In her free time Lisa enjoys everything basketball, photography and most importantly, time with her son, Carson Powell, and their 12 year-old puppy, Sargent Black.
