Kendra comes to AchieveMpls after spending most of her career with Citizen Schools, an education nonprofit that focuses on career and college pathway access for middle school students through hands-on apprenticeships with companies and organizations in their community. She served most recently as the managing director of programs in Boston, overseeing a team of nearly 100 staff and AmeriCorps service members, directing program strategy and evaluation, and managing district and school partnerships.
Kendra brings extensive experience working in partnership between schools, non-profits, and community organizations and businesses and has seen first-hand the opportunities that can be created by connecting community resources with the rising talent in our public schools. She is particularly committed to working to address long-entrenched inequities in education and ensuring access and opportunity for students from marginalized groups.
Kendra has a bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College and a master of education from Lesley University in Boston. She has spent six years in the southwest and another six in New England, and holds both people and places dearly. She is excited to return to her midwestern roots and engage in education equity work a bit closer to home. When not at work, Kendra enjoys exploring all the Twin Cities have to offer and getting outdoors with her young sons and husband.
