Devona is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She graduated with a double major in Sociology of Law, Criminology and Deviance along with African and African American Studies. While in school, Devona had various opportunities within different internship programs and on the University of Minnesota campus. She held positions within the University of Minnesota’s President’s Emerging Scholars Program as a Peer Mentor and Lead Peer Mentor mentoring both incoming college students and progressing into coaching the peer mentors in the program. She also had work experience opportunities as a Hennepin County intern within the Urban Scholars Program for the summers of 2017 and 2018, a Lutheran Social Services intern with Capitol Pathways and a Legal intern for the City of Minneapolis’ Regulatory Services Department. As of currently, Devona is working towards her Master’s Degree in the Study of Law at Hamline University anticipating a graduation during the fall of 2020.
Outside of school and work, you can find Devona visiting various restaurants around the downtown Minneapolis area and trying new cuisines with friends; watching Grown-ish, Black-ish or Four Weddings on Hulu; or traveling to a new state.
