1. Body Bliss: Supporting Youth in Growing Stronger, Healthier Bodies
In our appearance-obsessed culture, many women and girls are unhappy with their body size. Jennifer Espinosa-Goswani is a motivational speaker, mother of two beautiful daughters and someone who has struggled with her own body image. Jennifer will draw on both personal and professional experience to share ways to help young people shift the conversation from weight to worth and move toward “body bliss” – which she defines as a total acceptance and appreciation for a healthier and stronger body.
Jennifer Espinosa-Goswami is a motivational speaker who is committed to helping women filter through misleading fitness claims and discover a weight management process that supports longevity and life. Jenn has personally dealt with fat shaming (or bullying) and as a result, is committed to building up women, encouraging them to use their own strength and power to build stronger, healthier bodies now. Jennifer is a member of the National Weight Loss Control Registry and has been featured in both national and international media. She holds a master’s degree in leadership from Augsburg University and has 10 years of corporate experience as a certified fraud examiner. She loves bean burritos and living room dance parties with her two daughters.
2. Raising Sexually Healthy Youth
Most adults struggle to talk with their young people about sex and sexual health even when they recognize the importance of these conversations. Although tackling these topics can be anxiety-producing, EDTalk presenter Tim Katz wants us to know they don’t have to be! Tim will draw on his many years of experience as a sexual health educator to provide tips on navigating these conversations by using stories and teachable moments. He’ll also share strategies for all of us on raising sexually healthy youth.
Tim Katz is education and outreach manager at Planned Parenthood North Central States, where he supports staff in delivering peer education programs and teaching comprehensive sex education to students in South Minneapolis. Tim also facilitates parent-child retreats and offers professional development training for educators working in the field of sexual health.
