Volunteer
Every student has the right to live out their dreams after high school. Whether that means going to college or moving straight into a career, they must be prepared to meet the challenges of a changing world. The Career & College Centers help ensure all Minneapolis High School students gain the skills, knowledge and experience they need to plan for and achieve their postsecondary education and career goals.
We need people like you to make it all possible. Share your experiences, talents and skills while offering support to our students. There are several ways to get involved. Find the opportunity that fits you best:
Speak to Students
- About your line of work.
- How to be successful in higher education and the workplace.
- Your own life experiences.
- A topic of your choosing.
One-Time Events
- Career Fairs: Engage with hundreds of students and introduce them to career opportunities within your industry. Host a table with materials and information to help students make good positive career decisions.
- Work Site Visits: Welcome a group of students into your work place to explore career paths in a positive professional environment.
- STEP-UP Mock Interviews: Model your own professionalism and give candid feedback while helping students gain work skills.
Ongoing Opportunities
- Student Supporter: Assist students as they create resumes, complete college applications and find work. Answer student questions about the process and resources needed to achieve their goals.
- Administrative Support: Assist Center Coordinators and keep our programs running smoothly.
- Special Events: Help plan and implement special events like career fairs and work site visits.
