Our City, Our Schools February Forum: Teacher Seniority
Wed February 29, 2012 | 11:30 am - 1 pm
Hope Community Center, 611 East Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis
AchieveMpls is hosting a new series of monthly forums to help our local community get better informed about current—and often very complex—public education issues. The goal of the series is to help community members from all backgrounds get more active and engaged with MPS as volunteers, community partners and advocates.
Our City, Our Schools forums are discussion-based, featuring presentations by knowledgeable local speakers and time for in-depth conversation on such issues as the achievement gap, education reform and policy, career and college readiness and other topics. Forums are held in a variety of Minneapolis locations and at various times of day, allowing greater access for community participation.
This month's forum focuses on teacher seniority, and features Mary Cathryn Ricker, President of the St. Paul Federation of Teachers, and Nicholas Banovetz, Public Affairs Manager for the education advocacy organization MinnCAN. To RSVP or learn more, contact Rebecca Noecker at 612-455-1571 or rnoecker@achievempls.org.
