Why do you engage with AchieveMpls?

We partner with AchieveMpls mainly through the STEP-UP Achieve program. Since 2005 we have welcomed groups of up to 14 summer interns in jobs ranging from marketing to banking to IT. In addition to the real work the students do while they are here, these summer internships provide opportunities for our employees to gain supervisory experience.

How does your involvement meet your organization’s interests?

At Thrivent Financial we believe that we succeed when our members and their communities thrive. Providing young people with the skills they need to thrive as adults is central to a strong community, so our involvement with STEP-UP Achieve helps us live our mission.

What do you find most rewarding about your work with AchieveMpls?

Thrivent employees enjoy providing a nurturing environment for our interns each summer, helping them gain job experience and explore career options in the financial services industry. Welcoming STEP-UP Achieve interns back as full-time employees when they have completed their post-secondary education would be a huge win for us. The STEP UP Achieve staff is always willing to work closely with us to provide support to interns and their supervisors, and our program grows stronger each year thanks to this partnership.

Why would you recommend another organization to get involved?

We would encourage other organizations to make the investment of time and resources necessary to employ a STEP-UP Achieve intern. The rewards far exceed the investment, the STEP-UP Achieve staff is there to provide support, and  you might be training one of your organization’s future leaders.
