About AchieveMpls

Eight years ago, education, business, government and civic leaders were inspired by the need to join forces in supporting public education and preparing students for a successful life after high school. They came together in January of 2002 to form a strong and vibrant foundation for the Minneapolis Public Schools: AchieveMpls.

Over the past eight years we have become a trusted partner of the school district, providing financial and programmatic support crucial to the overall success of Minneapolis Public School students. Today, we create and manage programs, provide support for partner programs operating in the Minneapolis Public Schools, and provide financial resources to students, teachers and administrators.

AchieveMpls is a member of both the Public Education Network (PEN) and Intermediary Network (INet).

A Message from Paul & Pam

Welcome! We have worked to create a comprehensive online resource for everyone invested in the education of our students. There is information relevant to our supporters in the business and foundation communities, community organizations we partner with to do this important work, individuals interested in having a direct impact on the lives of Minneapolis students, parents who are working to support and enrich the education of their children, and students themselves who are succeeding in the classroom and planning for life after high school.

This site, like our work, will evolve to continuously improve the service we provide to students, parents, educators, and community members. Check back often to keep up with our progress. Thanks to Azul 7 for their terrific design!

As always, thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our students.

Students Tell Us What They Need Most

The Career & College Center Student Leaders (3CSL) is a group of student representatives from Minneapolis high schools that provides valuable insight on how we can best support students as they prepare for life after high school. Xia Yang, a 10th grader at Edison, when asked about the challenges facing many of our students as they think about college and work, said: “Sometimes, the people who have the highest chance of achieving can fall so far behind. Sometimes I get pulled down from peer pressure or thinking too much about what others will think of me, so I am hesitant to do things.” Our job, via 3CSL and the Career & College Initiative, is to provide the interlocking network of support and the enrichment opportunities to students to make sure they don’t fall behind. “But I want to live my life to the fullest, because, as Dr. Seuss says, ‘You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.’ All we have to do is work hard, then go and get it!”
